Quick answer
An LED screen hardware price commonly covers modules, cabinets, power supplies and receiving cards. A working installation also needs video processing, mounting structure, electrical and data work, freight, customs, labor, commissioning and support. Compare the total delivered and accepted system, with every inclusion written down.
A published example of the scope gap
LEGIDATECH’s 25 August 2026 guide publishes factory-direct hardware references of USD 350–1,500 per m² for indoor, USD 280–950 per m² for outdoor and USD 650–1,450 per m² for rental-grade screens. It states that the baseline includes modules, cabinets, power supplies and receiving cards and excludes the control system, steel structure, installation, shipping and duties (LEGIDATECH).
That disclosure makes the figures useful. Trouble starts when a buyer compares such a rate with an integrator proposal that contains site work and assumes the gap is markup.
Keep four totals in the budget
| Budget level | Typical contents |
|---|---|
| Ex-works hardware | Display cabinets and listed internal electronics |
| Delivered equipment | Hardware, controls, spares, packing, freight and defined import scope |
| Installed system | Delivered equipment, structure, power/data work and installation |
| Accepted system | Installed system, calibration, testing, documents and training |
The labels themselves are not contractual standards. Define each line in the purchase order and state the Incoterms rule and named place for an international shipment.
Fixed costs distort small-wall comparisons
Processors, design, crew mobilization and training do not shrink in direct proportion to display area. This is one reason installed cost per square metre can look high on a small wall. Keep those fixed items visible instead of spreading them into an unexplained panel rate.
A US church example illustrates the difference in scope. Tech in Church publishes USD 220–270 per ft² as its common installed band and says that panels, processor, mounting, installation labor, commissioning and operator training are included. It lists electrical circuits, structural engineering in some cases, custom rigging and certain travel or ongoing support as possible extras (Tech in Church). Those are one Ohio integrator’s 2026 figures and inclusions, not a worldwide conversion factor.
Turn a hardware quote into a project quote
Ask the manufacturer or integrator to complete this schedule:
- exact cabinets, modules and component brands;
- controller, processor, input cards and software licenses;
- spare modules, power supplies, receiving cards and cables;
- mounting steel, trim, engineering and finish work;
- power distribution, grounding, data and source interfaces;
- packing, freight, insurance, customs, duty and final delivery;
- lifting, access, labor, supervision and travel;
- calibration, acceptance testing, training and documentation;
- warranty labor, parts freight, remote support and site rates.
Samsung’s LED overview also frames true cost as the display, installation, content management and maintenance (Samsung). Make content workflow part of the project if the buyer lacks a player, templates or trained operators.
Control changes after contract award
Freeze the cabinet map and bill of materials. Require written approval for substitutions. Define what happens if the final dimensions, native resolution, power demand or structural load changes. Tie payment milestones to documents, delivery, installation and acceptance rather than calendar dates alone.
Does “turnkey” guarantee everything is included?
No. It is a sales description unless the contract lists boundaries. Read exclusions for electrical work, permits, taxes, content, network access and structural reinforcement.
Should buyers compare cost per square metre?
Use it only after matching hardware and scope. Keep fixed costs separate and compare the final accepted-system total.
Who should own commissioning?
Name one responsible party. The acceptance plan should cover sources, resolution, brightness presets, color uniformity, fault recovery, camera performance where relevant, spares and operator handover.
