Quick answer
A useful public starting point is USD 350–1,500 per m² for indoor screen hardware, USD 280–950 per m² for outdoor hardware, and USD 650–1,450 per m² for rental-grade hardware. These are LEGIDATECH’s factory-direct reference ranges, updated 25 August 2026, for modules, cabinets, power supplies and receiving cards. They exclude the control system, structure, installation, shipping and duties, so they are not installed prices or market averages (LEGIDATECH).
The number that matters is the delivered, commissioned cost for your site. Samsung likewise describes the true cost of an LED display as the display, installation, content management and maintenance together (Samsung).
Published reference prices by screen type
| Screen type | Published pitch band | Published hardware range | Scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| Indoor fixed | P1.25–P3 | USD 350–1,500/m² | Factory-direct reference |
| Outdoor fixed | P4–P10 | USD 280–950/m² | Factory-direct reference |
| Rental-grade | P2.6–P4.81 | USD 650–1,450/m² | Factory-direct reference |
All three rows come from the same LEGIDATECH price guide, which states the date, currency, unit and exclusions. They are useful for early feasibility work. They cannot tell you what a P1.25 boardroom wall in London or a P10 roadside display in Nairobi will cost after local engineering, tax and labor.
Why two same-size screens cost different amounts
Pixel pitch changes the component count. Smaller pitch packs more pixels into each square metre, increasing the number of LED packages and driver components. Environment changes the specification too: an outdoor screen may need greater brightness, weather protection and a stronger cabinet. EagerLED advises buyers to define viewing distance, content, operating hours and mounting method before requesting a configuration (EagerLED).
The cabinet price can also hide material differences. Ask for the LED package maker and batch, driver IC, power-supply model, cabinet material, maximum and typical power draw, service direction and stated ingress-protection rating. Treat terms such as “high refresh” or “weatherproof” as incomplete until the seller gives a number and test basis.
Build a project budget, not a panel budget
Request separate lines for:
- display cabinets, modules and a documented spare-parts quantity;
- sending equipment, processors, receiving cards and licensed software;
- mounting steel, trim, access platforms and structural engineering;
- power distribution, data cabling and signal conversion;
- export packing, freight, insurance, customs and local delivery;
- installation, calibration, training and acceptance testing;
- warranty process, remote support and chargeable site visits.
This list prevents a low hardware quote from being compared with a turnkey proposal. It also exposes duplicate allowances, such as a processor included by both the manufacturer and integrator.
A safer way to compare prices
Give every bidder the same screen dimensions, minimum viewing distance, indoor or outdoor location, content format, operating schedule, input sources and delivery city. Then normalize each quote to the same currency and tax basis. Use the active display area for per-square-metre comparisons, while keeping fixed-cost items such as processing and mobilization visible.
Do not pick a pitch from price alone. Ask for a sample or a documented demonstration using your own text, camera feed and low-brightness content. A coarse display that cannot resolve the content is expensive at any price; a needlessly fine pitch buys pixels the audience may not see.
Questions buyers ask
Is the cheapest price per square metre the best value?
Rarely without a matched bill of materials. A low rate may exclude controls, spares, freight or installation, or specify different components and warranty handling.
Can I calculate the final cost from screen area?
Area multiplied by a hardware rate gives only a hardware planning figure. Add every project line above and obtain local tax and duty advice for the destination.
What should I send EagerLED for a quote?
Send the required visible width and height, nearest viewer, installation photographs or drawings, indoor/outdoor conditions, content and camera use, daily operating hours, mounting preference, input sources, destination and target date.
